Alaska IronKids Triathlon 2012 Goes to Cebu

Alaska Milk Corporation (AMC) continues to promote proper nutrition and training as the major players in better performance in every sport. To further leverage its position as the leading milk brand in the country, AMC brings the Alaska IronKids Triathlon to a new and higher level when the event takes place on August 4, 2012, from 6 to 9am, in Shangri – La Mactan, Cebu City.

Alaska IronKids is the junior counterpart of the world – renowned triathlon event IronMan. Kids 6 to 14 years old race through three sporting events: Swimming, Biking and Running. The race is divided into four age categories: 6 – 8 years, old, 9 – 10 years old, 11 – 12 years old, and 13 – 14 years old. The event is open to kids who are new to the sport as well as those who have already competed in other triathlon events.

More than a hundred triathletes, 6 to 14 years old, will compete in this year’s edition, hopefully surpassing the record number of 95 participants in 2011 held at the CamSur Water Sports Complex. With their parents and family to cheer for them, the event promises to be a family affair to remember. Kids will not only compete on the race day, but will also have the chance to socialize during the Alaska IronKids Children’s party to be held on August 3, 2012 at the Alaska Media Center.

Expected to defend their titles are frontrunners and early race favorites Tara Borlain and Eric Almendral, last year’s winners in the 6 – 8 years old category; Sophia Marie Vizcarra and Lance Vincent Plaza, winners in the 11 – 12 years old category; and Mgali Echauz and Justine Kyle Mapalo, winners in the 13 – 14 years old category.

Alaska IronKids is a year – long event and has already completed three legs – two running events held at the University of Makati and at the Mall of Asia grounds, and an aquathlon held at the Palms Country Club.

Since its inception in 2010, Alaska IronKids has become a symbol for active and healthy lifestyle among the kids. Its successful races have encouraged kids to take care of their bodies through exercise and proper nutrition, and have instilled in them commitment and discipline, all of which are advocacies of the Alaska Milk Corporation. In addition to that, the event has also become a venue for the families to bond and show support to each other.

Interested kids can still join the event as the registration is still ongoing. Please log on to http://www.ironkidsphil.com.
